Plateau attacks: DSS arrests suspected arms dealer
By Jeffrey Agbo
The Department of State Services (DSS) has broken up a suspected weapons-production and supply network believed to be fuelling attacks in Plateau State and parts of northern Nigeria, arresting an alleged arms fabricator at his workshop.
According to the service, operatives picked up the suspect on November 12, 2025, after actionable intelligence traced him to a facility in the Mista Ali community of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the DSS said the suspect was involved in crafting and distributing firearms and ammunition to violent groups active in Plateau and neighbouring states.
“DSS operatives were said to have recovered components of improvised explosive devices, chemicals and equipment from the location.
“Operatives of the Department of State Services have successfully disrupted a high target arms supply network linked to terrorist activities in Plateau and neighbouring states. The operation led to the arrest of Musa Abubakar, a key arms dealer, following precise intelligence on November 12, 2025.
“The suspect confessed to having manufactured and distributed high-calibre weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions.
“His arrest followed credible intelligence on activities of the suspect, which led to a targeted raid on his arms manufacturing workshop located in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State,” it stated.
The breakthrough comes shortly after the service re-arrested Abdulazeez Obadaki, widely known as Bomboy, a fugitive from the Kuje jailbreak accused of taking part in the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.
The DSS had earlier confirmed the arrest of nine additional suspects, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol, as part of its ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
