Former Barcelona defender, Gerard Piqué believes his former teammate, Neymar failed to win the Ballon d’Or because he left the Catalan club.
Piqué shared his opinion while featuring as a guest on the latest episode of the ‘PodPah’ podcast.
Neymar spent four years at Camp Nou until 2017 when he made a world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

According to Piqué, this decision largely prevented the Brazilian star from securing football’s top individual prize, an award he believes Neymar “deserved.”
“I’m convinced he deserved a Ballon d’Or. I think going to PSG hurt him,” the former defender said on the show.
The former Spanish international added that despite efforts to convince Neymar, the move seemed “already decided.”
“We tried to convince him not to go, we did everything possible.” Piqué further said.
