Following the 72-hour ultimatum given by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Edgal Imohimi to clear the traffic congestion in the state, the police swung into action on Sunday.
The Vice President gave the directive weekend during a visit to Lagos with a view to ending the lingering gridlock in the state.
Accompanied on the inspection tour by the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, the Vice President was led by the Police Commissioner in a chopper for the assessment of the menace of the drivers along the axis.
At the end of the visit, the Vice President directed the Commissioner of Police to clear the gridlock within 72 hours.
