By Uzor Odigbo

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has announced the cancellation of pharmaceutical products imported into Nigeria from being sent to Bonded Terminals following several abuses by importers.

CG Adeniyi made this disclosure on Monday in Lagos during the public display of seized items at Apapa Port.

He added that such importation will now be processed only within the ports to check abuses.
The Customs CG, while unveiling 16 containers seized by the Apapa Port Command, announced the seizure of expired medicine, hard drugs, arms, ammunition, and unwholesome poultry products.

He further announced 5 arrests, stating that the total goods seized were valued above ₦10 billion
Adeniyi stated that the service will continually prevent importers and their agents from making Nigeria a dumping ground for prohibited products by any form.

CG Adeniyi commended Customs officers and other sister government agencies such as NAFDAC, NDLEA Police, etc for the synergy formed in arresting the criminals. The presentation which attracted other agencies of government is expected to foster closer collaboration for further seizures. Expired products such as Magarine, Biscuits and Vehicles, textiles materials, two pump action rifles and many cartridges were displayed.
