Petrol retailers urge Dangote Refinery to disclose its price

Retailers of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol have called on Dangote Refinery to unveil the price of its product to Nigerians.

They made the demand on Thursday through the President of the Products Retail Outlets Owners Association, Billy Gillis-Harry. who chatted with DAILY POST.

The petrol retailers were reacting to a statement by the Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin that local marketers were boycotting Dangote Refinery petrol for imported ones despite its lower prices.

Speaking about the quantity of the refinery’s Products sold locally recently, Edwin said, “I’m selling 2 to 3% to small traders who are willing to buy, while the rest 95 to 97% I’m forced to export.”

Responding to the allegation, Gillis-Harry explained that petrol retailers and marketers don’t know the price of Dangote Refinery’s petrol which it claimed is lower than imported ones.

He further assured that petroleum marketers in Nigeria are willing to patronize Dangote Refinery petrol based on a fair price.

“Why don’t Dangote Refinery give us a price list of what his price is? They cannot tell the price of Dangote Refinery’s PMS which they claim is cheaper than imported petrol. What is the price of DRL petrol?

“How come they are saying marketers are boycotting their petrol? We don’t know how much Dangote is selling its petrol.

“We are willing to partner with him but we partner on the basis that we would be able to sell with a human face”, Gillis-Harry said.
