Peter Rufai says Eagles must score early to beat Ghana

Peter Rufai also said, while we try to punish them for their errors, we must ensure we watch out for counter-attacks from the Ghanaians

Former Go-ahead Eagle goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has urged the Super Eagles to ensure they are clinical in front of goal, and ensure they score early to beat the Black Stars

Nigeria take on Ghana on Tuesday evening, in the reverse fixture of the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The forst leg between the two sides at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.on Friday night, ended in a stalemate, meaning the winner of the second leg in Abuja will proceed to Qatar, later in the years.

But Peter Rufai, while speaking with Competesports recently identified early goal and good marksmanship as the two ways to unsettle the Black Stars, of Ghana.

He also said, while we try to punish them with clinical finishes in front of goal, we must also try to give little away and be wary of counter-attacks. 

“This is going to be a tough encounter. However, our dream of playing at the World Cup is in our hands right here in Abuja. All we need to do is to score an early goal because that will unsettle the Black Stars.” Rufai said.  

He added, “I am optimistic the Ghanaian side can’t pull an upset against us, but then, we must have to watch our back so as to prevent any form of counter-attacks.

“We just have to be clinical in front of goal and punish the Black Stars for every error that they make. This is our game and we must win come Tuesday.”
