Peseiro insists Super Eagles are focused on beating Baciro Cande’s men to top the group rather than revenge

Nigeria coach, Jose Peseiro, ahead of his side’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group A final clash, has dismissed the notion that the Super Eagles are out to revenge their earlier defeat in the hands of Guinea-Bissau.
The Djurtus defeated Nigeria 1-0 in Abuja during the qualifiers for the ongoing AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
Both teams are set to clash again at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, on Monday night and pundits have said ‘revenge’ will be on Nigeria’s mind.

However, speaking during his pre-match press conference, Peseiro said he is focused on helping the Super Eagles beat Baciro Cande’s men to top the group rather than ‘revenge’.
He said: “We are not thinking about revenge but we are here to top the group and they are in our sights.
“We must do what has to be done. Guinea Bissau have no point and will play with freedom, and that is when a team becomes dangerous.”
Nigeria are currently second in Group A behind Equatorial Guinea with four points from two games.
A point from the last group clash against Guinea Bissau will be enough for the Super Eagles to book a place in the Round of 16.
However, a win might take them to the top of the group, if Equatorial Guinea fail to beat Cote d’Ivoire in the other group game.
