Few days after the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Mattawale, announced his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a senator in the state, Hassan Mohammed Gusau, has joined him.
The PDP senator representing Zamfara Central in the National Assembly said he was quitting the PDP at today’s sitting of the senate.
Unlike Mattawale, who said he has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after quitting the PDP, Gusau did not say which party he would be joining. Although many expect that the APC would be his eventual destination.
According to the special assistant on media to the senate president, Ezrel Tabiowo, Gusau’s resignation was conveyed in a latter addressed to the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, and read during the start of plenary on Tuesday.
The letter reads: “My decision is necessitated due to the collapse of internal democracy and factionalisation of the party from ward levels in Zamfara State. Further decisions on political movement and party affiliations will be communicated to this chamber in due course.”
