The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State yesterday presented Certificates of return to all the party’s Governorship candidate, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko, and 40 other candidates that won the primaries and to fly the party’s flag in the 2019 general elections.
The party’s state Chairman, Alhaji Tanko Beji, who presented the certificates to the winners, enjoined them to fill the necessary forms provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the polls.
Beji told supporters at the PDP secretariat auditorium, along eastern by-pass Minna, that the Presidential candidate of the party and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, had already collected the INEC forms.
While advising that they be more careful and meticulous in filling the forms, Beji reminded the PDP flag bearers that only correct information should be provided and warned them against embarking on campaigns until the time stipulated by the INEC.
“I urge you all to respect the laws of the land. Wait until the time approved for campaigns by the INEC before you start your campaigns and other political activities”, Beji said as he commended all those that contested the primary election but lost for accepting their defeat in good faith.
According to him, “Agreeing to support those that won is the hallmark of true democrats you all are. I salute your courage and also appeal that we all together will go out to campaign when INEC blows the whistle as a sign for us to go all out to campaign for our candidates”.
On behalf of all others, the state PDP governorship standard bearer, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko, appreciated the State Working Committee (SWC) for conducting, ‘free, fair and most transparent party primary election’.
“The primary election is already behind us, there is no victor there is no vanquished, together we should face the next stage of the battle,” he said.
