PDP constitutes a committee of 37 wise men to find a way around the thorny issue of zoning in the party, which threatens to divide its ranks

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted its zoning committee comprising leaders of the party from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The 37 wise men will decide whether to leave the party’s presidential ticket open or zone it.
The committee was constituted after the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) approved various sums of money for its Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
The PDP NEC did not however make any definite pronouncement on zoning the presidential slot. Instead, it resolved to set up a committee to make the decision.
The leaders drafted to navigate the opposition party out of its zoning dilemma are:

The committee which will be inaugurated on Monday is given two weeks to complete its delicate work.
Going by the Electoral Act which fixes first of June as the deadline for primaries, some PDP leaders who spoke to TheNiche on Sunday said the decision of the zoning committee will make or mar the party’s chances of winning the 2023 presidential election.
