The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congresses hold today in nine states of the federation to elect state working committee members.
The states where the PDP congresses are holding include; Lagos, Oyo, Adamawa, Kebbi, Borno, Kogi, Osun, Kwara and Ebonyi.
The PDP congresses are holding in the nine states because the tenures of the executive committees in the states were expiring.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, had said the National Working Committee (NWC) had approved the timetable and schedule of activities for 2021 party congresses in the nine states.
The PDP is also holding it’s national convention on October 30 to elect officers at the national level after governors of the party arm-twisted the party to move forward the national convention earlier stated for December.
Ologbodiyan had earlier stated that the PDP congresses would hold only in some respective wards in Osun, while in the case of Ebonyi, congress would be conducted to elect new excos following the dissolution of the state structure due to political realignments occasioned by the defection of the state governor Dave Umahi and others to the All Progressives Congress ( APC).
