Like Cristiano Ronaldo who removed two bottles of Coca Cola from his table to give way for water, Paul Pogba, a devout Muslim has followed the pattern. He removed a bottle of Heineken from the table that was set for him to address the press during Euro 2020 press conference.
Pogba spoke with the press after France defeated Germany 1-0 in the first round of the Euro competition.
Islam forbids alcoholic consumption. But Pogba may not have been aware that the bottle of the Heineken he removed from the table was a non-alcoholic drink.
Pogba is a devout Muslim, who only converted to the religion during his football career, although he was born into a Muslim family.
He had said that the reason he became Muslim was because the religion makes him a better person. And as a devout Muslim, he took the bottle of Heineken and placed it on the floor before speaking to the press.
Cristiano Ronaldo had earlier removed two bottles of Coca-Cola after his side, Portugal defeated Hungary 3-0.
The action of Ronaldo cost Coca Cola to lose $4 billion in market share.
Coca-Cola responded to that by saying: “Everyone is entitled to their drink preferences.”
