Pastor causes uproar by snatching church member’s wife

-

General Overseer of Word Bank Assembly, Pastor Moses Adeeyo, is accused of marrying a member’s wife when her first marriage was not yet legally dissolved.

The woman in the centre of the controversy is Tina. She was first married to Bright Ben 12 years ago, deserted the marriage seven months ago, and married her pastor on August 7, 2021.

Her first husband, Ben, told the story via his Facebook page with pictorial evidence to prove that Tina was his wife.

He says: “ADULTERY… As shameful as it sounds, it is a true-life story. MY PASTOR MARRIED MY WIFE.

“I’ve been married to Mrs Tina Bright for over 12years with two kids, a girl and a boy.

“I married her traditionally and white wedding and took her to introduce to my Pastor Moses Adeeyo. The General Overseer of Word Bank Assembly in Eneka , obio/akpor LGA Rivers State. We started attending the church and became full financial members.

“My wife was given an immediate appointment seven months ago, she moved out of the house with our two kids before I got back from work. I searched everywhere and called everyone even the G.O. unknown to me that he was the architect of my problems.

“After some time he stopped picking my calls and blocked my phone line. I’ve been looking for her until I saw these (wedding) pictures yesterday online. He claimed that the Holy Spirit told him that she is his wife. Is the Holy Spirit an author of confusion.? My wife of 12yrs is now his.

“Pls Couples be careful in world Bank Assembly to be careful of Pst MOSES ADEEYO.”

Another Facebook post from one Pastor Adesoji Adeeyo who claims to be the son of the General Overseer added another twist to the drama.

He says: “My mother Mercy Adeeyo has not yet been divorced to her husband my father pastor Moses Adeeyo, no settlement made yet, the matter is still in court. Tina Adeeyo is now the second wife while my mother is the first wife.”

Tina has explained why she abandoned her husband of 12years and married her pastor.

She said she suffered abuse and threats at the hands of her first husband.

Tina said she endured the abuse but at some point, would run back to her parent’s house in Port Harcourt multiple times, and return back to her husband.

She said Bright didn’t provide in the marriage, and she had to borrow to meet the family’s needs and to pay the children school fees.

According to her, Bright kicked her out of the marriage. “He looked at me one morning and said there is no marriage between us that I’m just in his house wasting his time. He chased me out of our room, that I’m a smelling thing.”

She added that on the night before she left him for good, he had locked her in the house and held onto the key.

When she told him she was tired and couldn’t continue with the marriage, she said he told her she should leave that she’s just the caretaker of the children and nothing more to him.

She said her children later found the spare key, gave her and told her “Mummy, escape.” That was on November 28, 2020.

She said that she moved back to her mother’s house after that and then came to Lagos where she started her life from scratch, working and squatting with people.

She added that at this point, Pastor Moses Adeeyo was not in the picture and had no hand in her leaving her husband as Bright claimed.

She said that in April 2021, her kinsmen called a meeting where she spoke her mind and they were shocked at all she had been enduring.

She said they then decided to return the bride price but when they checked the ledger, they realized he didn’t pay any bride price.

She recounted how he had been told years ago when they were getting married, that he had only bought the items on the list and had not paid the bride price, but he ignored.

She said that she never lived with Pastor Moses Adeeyo and that Bright can attest to it.

She added that Bright is smearing Pastor Moses Adeeyo’s name because he vowed to her that he will ensure no man marries her and any man that tries to marry her, would destroy the man.

Tina begged people to leave Pastor Moses Adeeyo alone.

“God gave me life and rescued me from the hand of a lion that wanted to devour me for 11 years. I ran but you guys feel I should remain there and die. If I had died, the same world will say why didn’t she run for her life?”
