Against the backdrop of thugs attacking protesters across the country, leading to curfew in Lagos and Edo states, the Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, has launched a special security operation named Operation Burst to provide protection for protesters.
In a tweet from the Governor’s verified twitter handle, Makinde said the Operation Burst would also arrest the thugs vandalising properties and attacking genuine protesters.
His tweet reads: “We are deploying members of Operation Burst to various hotspots in Ibadan to arrest the situation and restore normalcy. The members of the team will continue to protect genuine protesters and their right to protest.”
Nigerians have hailed Makinde for what they termed his astute leadership at a time of crisis. They said the Lagos State governor , Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Edo state counterpart, Godwin Obaseki, have a lot to learn from Makinde whom they said handled the situation better.
