Oyetola votes, expresses confidence in INEC

Oyetola said the early arrival of INEC officials and election materials showed that the electoral umpire was prepared for the exercise.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has cast his vote at unit 2 Popo, Iragbeji, Boripe Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking after casting his vote, the governor expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a free and fair election.

Oyetola said the early arrival of INEC officials and election materials showed that the electoral umpire was prepared for the exercise.

He praised the turnout of voters and urged the electorates to protect their votes.

Oyetola and his wife arrived at the polling station at about 10:37 am after which they joined the queue to cast their votes.

They were welcomed by a cheering crowd of supporters, some of whom were in the queue waiting to also cast their votes.

Some minutes after joining the queue, the governor and his wife took turns to get accredited by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

After they were cleared, they picked up their ballot papers and proceeded to the cubicle where they cast their votes and deposited the paper in the ballot box.

Earlier, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, cast his vote in the ongoing Osun State governorship election. He voted at a polling unit 9 on Ward 2 in Ede North Local Government Area of the state.

Senator Adeleke who arrived at his polling unit in Abogunde/Sagba Ede North about 8:46am was accredited by the electoral officials on duty at about 8:50am after which he voted about two minutes later.
