Otti also reiterated he is still a member of the LP, adding that he is not planning to join the ruling APC.

Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has said the winner of the 2027 governorship election in his State will be determined by the will of God and the people, warning those contemplating to rig the poll to have a rethink.
He made this known on Thursday at the Government House, Umuahia, during the October edition of ‘Alex Otti Speaks to Abians’.
Otti was reacting to a question from a journalist concerning a recent statement credited to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, where he (the Deputy Speaker) said that his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), will take over the rulership of Abia in 2027.
Kalu, while speaking with groups loyal to him, said, “We have come to take over, and there is no going back because we want to work with the president to move our state forward. It is about the love we have for our president. We are all gathering momentum for what will come in 2027. We are here to move the state and the federal government forward.”

Reacting, Otti declared that he is not afraid of the threat by the Deputy Speaker, saying that Kalu was entitled to contest the 2027 governorship election in Abia but must learn to play according to the rules.
He added that those contemplating rigging elections in Abia should first “write their wills”.
Otti said, “I have heard that some people around him say oh, they must take over this State, they must write results but the only advice I have for them is that if they truly want to write results, they should write something else before that time.
“You know what it is? Their will.”
The Abia Governor, who described Kalu as his friend and younger brother, said he has forgiven him for berating his personality and his administration, even as he maintained that the peace and decorum in Abia should not be destroyed.
Otti used the media chat to reiterate that he is not joining the All Progressive Congress (APC) but is still a member of the Labour Party (LP).
