Osinbajo is a good man, will run Nigeria effectively, says IBB

Former Military Head of State, Gen Ibrahim Babangida, has supported the presidential ambition of Vice President, Professor Osinbajo

Former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), has given his blessing to the clamour for Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to succeed Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) in 2023.

He made the assertion when the Osinbajo Grassroots Organization (OGO) visited him at his uphill residence in Minna on Thursday.

According to Thisday, the former Head of State claims he knows the character of the  Vice President and concluded that he is a good man, who is passionate about Nigeria and therefore can stir the ship of the country.  

He said “I know the professor very well. He is a good man and we need a good man to run us in this country. Somebody you can learn from; somebody you share a common conviction with.

“He has the passion for this great country. This is what we need for this country,”

Babangida also eulogised Prof. Osinbajo, saying he is a talented communicator, who has conviction about the country.

” He is a man who has conviction about this country, a man who believes in this country, a man who can communicate with the country and inspire people to achieve a greater goal for the country.

“He is a worthy person that we should all support,” he added.

The National Convener of the Organization, Ojo Folusho, while responding said they are happy that the former president endorsed the Vice President. 

He also said they were in Minna to consult him due to his wealth of experience. 

Ojo said, “We are happy with your endorsement.

“We came to consult the oracle and the oracle has spoken. Gen Babangida is an oracle because he understands Nigeria.”

The leader of the group noted that the Vice-President has not declared interest in occupying the seat in 2023, he, however,  assured the former president that the group will continue to mount pressure on him to pick interest in contesting for the presidency in 2023.

Also speaking, the Team Leader,  Emma Ejiofor, also said the group embarked on the trip to solicit the blessings and advice of prominent citizens like Gen. Babangida and tap from their sound knowledge. 

He echoed the assertion of the former president, that Nigeria is in dire need of leaders with conviction and passion like Prof Yemi Osinbajo to grow.
