Roberto Calenda, agent of Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has taken to social media to celebrate the remarkable achievement of the Nigerian during the 2023 Ballon d’Or held on Monday night in Paris, France.
Osimhen finished in eighth position in the 30-man shortlist and consequently made history as the first Nigerian to achieve the feat.
Apart from this, It is also the best result ever for a Napoli player, given that the previous record belonged to Ruud Krol, who ended 15th in 1980.
Osimhen finished above three other African stars, Mohamed Salah (11th), Yassine Bounou (13th) and Andre Onana (23rd).

And Calenda, who was over the moon took to his X handle, formally Twitter to celebrate the Nigeria international.
Speaking via the social media platform, he tweeted: “8th in Ballon d’Or ranking!
“You made history and the future is yours…Victor is coming!!!
Congrats @victorosimhen9,”

Following the feat, Messi has now extended his record for winning the grandest individual prize in football to three over long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo’s five.
Finishing behind the 36-year-old were European treble winner Erling Haaland and his fellow World Cup final giant, France’s Kylian Mbappe.
