Despite the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the federal level and the vigorous fight from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Abia State, the former governor of the State and Senator of the Federal Republic Theodore Orji has urged his party members to remain steadfast.
He assured that PDP would bounce back and control the presidency in 2019.
Orji gave the advice at a ceremony organized in his honour by the Umunneato Ngwa Traditional Rulers Committee for Ochendo held at Ugba Community Primary School, Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
He said that the PDP under his regime achieved much especially the power shift to Ngwa land. “It was during my regime that the PDP government actualized the equity in power sharing. Today, Ukwa Ngwa has produced Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as Governor, a feat no past governors did”. He thanked Umunneato traditional rulers for appreciating and honouring him with a chieftaincy title of “Ofuruiche I” of Igbo land.
Chairman of Umunneato Ngwa Traditional Rulers Community for Ochendo, Eze Boniface O. Dike, said they honoured Senator Orji for his show of love for the people of Ngwa by shifting power to them. “Orji has made history in Abia,” he said.
Also, the Chairman of the occasion and General Manager, Abia Water Board, Leo Chimela Ogbonna, thanked Senator Orji for his good works to humanity, noting that for ceding governorship to Ukwa Ngwa, he has left footprints in the sands of time. “This your good deed will remain indelible in the minds of every true son of Ukwa Ngwa Land”.
The occasion witnessed notable people from all walks of life including the Deputy Governor of Abia State who represented Governor Ikpeazu at the event.
