Oprah Winfrey denies receiving $1m to endorse Kamala Harris

American talk show host, television producer and actress, Oprah Winfrey has said the allegation that she endorsed Vice President and Democratic Party’s candidate in the just-concluded US presidential election, Kamala Harris after receiving $1 million is not true.

The thespian was reacting to a report by the Washington Examiner that her company, Harpo Productions, received a paycheck to host a celebrity town hall on behalf of Harris in September.

Speaking on the claim, Oprah made it clear that she didn’t accept a dime to campaign for the first US female black presidential candidate.

“Not true. I was paid nothing, ever,” TMZ quoted the talk show legend as saying.

She, however refused to delve into the election results, which saw the Republican Party’s nominee, Donald Trump emerge as the President-elect.

Oprah is not the first American celebrity accused of receiving money to back Kamala Harris, singer and songwriter, Belcalis Marlenis Cephus aka Cardi B recently debunked rumours that she got paid to speak at the Vice president’s rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Reacting to the innuendos via her X handle, Cardi B tweeted, “I did not get paid a dollar for this…I actually been talking about these topics for the past couple years for free on my platforms!! Before I was a celebrity I was a product of poverty for 24 years so you not gonna tell me what I want to see in my community.”
