The police say killer-inspector Ubi Ebri has been dismissed from service, effective immediately, and arraigned in court over the murder of Onyeka Ibeh.
TheNiche had reported how the 31-year-old Onyeka Ibeh, a businessman, was killed by Ebri in Delta State over N100 bribe.
The deceased is the brother of human rights activist and Policy and Research Lead at Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA), Zikora Ibeh.
A statement by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said Ebri was charged to court today and remanded at the Ogwashi-uku prison.
“Inspr Ubi Ebri, who allegedly shot and killed Mr Onyeka Ibeh on 5/4/2023 along Ugbolu-Illah road, has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police. He was charged to court today 19/4/2023 and remanded in Ogwashi-uku prison,” said Edafe.

Recall that on Wednesday, April 5, Ebri, allegedly shot Ibeh dead in presence of his pregnant wife.
The incident led to protests mainly by youths who were angry over the killing by the trigger-happy police inspector.
Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ari Mohammed Ali, swiftly intervened by assuring for prompt and effective investigation over the alleged murder of Onyeka Ibeh.
