The National Judicial Council (NJC) will reconvene on Wednesday this week to consider the recomendations of Complaints Asseessment Committee on Justices Walter Onnoghen and Tanko Mohammed.
In its emergency meeting held on Monday to consider the responses of Hon. Mr Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen and Hon Mr Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed to the three petitions written against them, it resolved to constitute the Preliminary Complaints Assessment Committee in accordance with Regulation 17 of the NJC Judicial Disciplne Regulations 2017.
The Committee will report its findings to the council on the February 13, 2019.
Consequently, the council will reconvene on Wednesday February 13 to consider the report of the Committee.
In a statement signed by the Council’s Director of information Soji Oye, disclosed that Council also received a new petition from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Onnoghen which has been forwarded to him to respond within seven working days.
Besides, the Council reaffirmed its confidence in Hon Mr Justice Umaru Abdulahi under his interim chairmanship.
