Ondo State governor and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has cast his vote at his polling unit in Igbo Ward 4, Obenla community, Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
Aiyedatiwa, who was escorted by his security aides, arrived at his polling unit around 8:46 am and voted exactly 8:50, stressing that he was satisfied with the conduct of the election.
He expressed optimism about the seamless conduct of the electoral process. The governor commended the organisation and efficiency at the polling station, noting that the process was both orderly and transparent.
According to him, “It’s encouraging to see the exercise going smoothly here; I am hopeful that this is reflective of the experience across the state.”

Aiyedatiwa also addressed concerns over accessibility for voters, urging that all eligible voters be granted a fair opportunity to exercise their democratic rights.
“I want to call on all officials and security personnel to ensure that every supporter and citizen is allowed to cast their vote freely and without obstruction,” he added.
He praised the security agencies for their effective handling of potential threats during the election process, highlighting that Ondo State remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.
“We have consistently conducted peaceful elections over the years, and I am confident this one will be no different.”
The governor also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), expressing confidence in the transparency of the process. He acknowledged the timely arrival of officials at his polling unit, but he stated he could not confirm the situation in other locations.
Aiyedatiwa made the commendation as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Festus Akingbaso, raised concerns about influx of thugs in Idanre Local Government Area during the election.
Akingbaso, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, made the allegation while speaking to journalists after casting his vote at Polling Unit 005, Oke Imikan.
The lawmaker expressed satisfaction with voter turnout and the security arrangements at his polling unit but voiced his apprehension over reports of thugs allegedly disrupting the election process in the area.
“The turnout of voters is not bad, and the security situation here is commendable. I want to appreciate INEC as their performance so far has been satisfactory. However, my advice to voters is that after casting their votes, they should stay behind and monitor proceedings until the final results are announced. If everything goes smoothly, I am confident my party will win,” Akingbaso stated.
However, he expressed concern over reports of thugs allegedly brought into Idanre by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
