Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, has described the just-concluded 50th anniversary of the state’s creation as impactful, all-inclusive and historic.

Ajanaku, who served as Chairman of the Media Committee for the golden jubilee celebration, said the event reflected the charismatic, people-centred and firm leadership style of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

In a post-anniversary statement, the commissioner noted that the wide recognition accorded to past leaders of the state both living and deceased through the conferment of lifetime achievement awards, underscored the governor’s integrity and deep respect for the state’s history.

According to him, the celebration resonated beyond ceremonies and festivities, leaving a lasting impact on many families, especially young adults who participated in essay competitions organised as part of the anniversary activities.

He said the winners, who received plots of land and cash prizes, have been positioned for a transformative new chapter in their lives.

Ajanaku further highlighted the administration’s drive to reposition Ondo from a civil-service-dependent state to an industrialised economy, pointing to key projects already in the pipeline.

These, he said, include the Olokola Free Trade Zone, the Deep Sea Port recently revalidated by the Federal Government and a proposed refinery.

He expressed optimism that the projects would serve as a development template for a “new Ondo” over the next 50 years, boosting economic activities and expanding opportunities for residents.

The commissioner thanked God for a hitch-free celebration and expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the confidence reposed in the anniversary planning committee and for his support throughout the exercise.

He also commended members of the committee, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, for their cooperation and synergy in ensuring the successful execution of the lined-up activities.
