A Member of Ondo state House of Assembly, Afolabi Iwalewa has built a N20 million modern library in Ode-Irele, headquarters of Irele council area to boost education sector in the area.
Iwalewa who is representing Irele State Constituency in the State House of Assembly noted that the gesture was his personal contribution to boost education development and advancement of students and other reading population in the area.
The well-furnished library complex is situated at Ode-Irele to make it accessible by all students within and around the council area.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko who unveiled the library complex for public use, praised Iwalewa for giving back to his Constituency, especially in uplifting education standard of both young and old.
The governor pledged that the state government, through the Ministry of Education will equip the library with modern textbooks, computer sets, other reading materials and staff to man the edifice.
Mimiko urged other public office holders to emulate Iwalewa, stressing that such practice would accelerate development and spread of dividends of democracy to every nooks and crannies of the state.
A PDP stalwart in the state, Eddy Olafeso said for the lawmaker to have erected such a magnificent library complex in Irele, and the first of its kind, he has raised the bar of leadership.
“This is a legacy that will impact into the education life of generations yet unborn. I was a teacher in this town in 1974 before Iwalewa was born; there was no single library in all these areas, but God has used this young man after several years to achieve this. It is very laudable, Olafeso stated”.
A leader in the state, Rotimi Ibidapo pledged to support the library with five new computer sets, a cash award of 2,000 dollar and a cheque of N500, 000 to equip the library.
Chairman of Gallery Security Service, Chief Bibopere Ajube also support the library project with a sum of one million naira.
