Ondo Govt reaffirms commitment to clean, potable water for all – Commissioner Akande

The Ondo State Commissioner for Water Resources, Public Sanitation and Hygiene, Elder Ayodele Samson Akande, has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa-led administration to ensuring access to clean, safe, and potable water for every household across the state.

In a statement issued by the Head, Media and Publicity Unit of the  Ministry, Oluwakemi Adedeji-Adeyemi,  Akande stated that the government considers water supply a fundamental right and a critical component of public health.

The commissioner made the call during his maiden meeting with the staff of the Ministry on his assumption of office, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the appointment and called on the staff of the Ministry to collaborate with him in driving the agenda of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration.

He assured residents that concerted efforts are being intensified to upgrade existing water infrastructure, expand distribution networks, and implement modern technologies to guarantee sustainable water supply.

According to the Commissioner, the Aiyedatiwa administration is also prioritizing sanitation and hygiene initiatives as part of its broader developmental agenda to improve the health and wellbeing of the populace.

Akande highlighted his key mandate, which includes advancing the Governor’s development agenda, “OUR EASE,” and ensuring the provision of good portable water for the people of Ondo State.

In her welcome address, the Administrative Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Victoria Opeyemi thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for his efforts towards providing clean water for the state’s residents.

She encouraged the staff of the Ministry and its agencies, including Water Corporation and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) to work in synergy to move the Ministry forward.

The meeting was attended by the General Manager of RUWASA, Engr. Rotimi Oladimeji, top management staff, friends and family members of the commissioner.
