Ondo Chief imam, Oyinlade regains freedom

Oyinlade, a 67-year-old cleric was abducted on his farm at Asolo camp, Owo in Ondo State on Saturday afternoon

The Chief Imam of Uso community, in Owo LGA of Ondo state, Alhaji Ibrahim Bodunde Oyinlade, has regained his freedom from gunmen who abducted him. 

The 67-year-old cleric was kidnapped on his farm at Asolo camp on Saturday afternoon.

His release was confirmed by a family member who pleaded to remain anonymous.

According to TheCable, the source said the kidnappers contacted the family on Sunday, demanding N10 million in ransom.

“The abductors contacted the family on Sunday and demanded a sum of N10 million but we thank God he has been released,” the family member said.

He also said he could not confirm payment of the ransom to secure Oyinlade’s release.

Also confirming the Imam’s release on Monday morning, the Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said the victim was released late Sunday evening. 

She, however, said she couldn’t say if any ransom was paid to the abductors before Oyinlade regained his freedom and reunited with his family.
