Omokri praises Tinubu’s ‘forgiveness’ after ambassadorial nomination

By Jeffrey Agbo

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for including him among the 32 newly nominated ambassador-designates, describing the President as embodying “Christlike” qualities and a spirit of forgiveness.

In a statement shared on X on Sunday, Omokri thanked both God and Tinubu for what he called the President’s “visionary and exemplary leadership,” adding that he is committed to serving his country with dedication.

He wrote, “The President has taught me the meaning of forgiveness and has helped me better understand what patriotism entails. In short, Christlikeness is demonstrated in him. He is the right man, at the right time, for the right job, and deserves the right hand of fellowship from all Nigerians.

“May God bless you, Mr President, and may Nigeria prosper as an indivisible entity with peace, prosperity, and progress under your able leadership.”

Omokri also paid tribute to his parents, Esijolomi and Omerewumi, whom he credited with moulding his character and values.

He offered special recognition to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

He said, “May God bless Malam Nuhu Ribadu. Although I have said this publicly before, let me repeat it today. If it were possible for all the goodness on Earth to be domiciled in a single human being, that person would be Malam.”

Omokri further appreciated his wife, Hana, calling her “my yene konjoo,” and noting that she stood by him during a period when he said opponents of the President targeted him because of his unwavering support for Tinubu and loyalty to Nigeria.

His nomination comes as part of a broader list of 32 ambassadorial names forwarded by President Tinubu to the Senate on Saturday. The nominees include notable figures such as former INEC chairman Mahmud Yakubu, ex-aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, and former Enugu State governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The presidency noted that the selections comprise both career and non-career nominees. All candidates will receive official postings only after Senate screening and confirmation.
