Olympics Day: Oborevwori to celebrate with Sports stakeholders at Stephen Keshi Stadium

The Delta State Government will on Saturday celebrate the 2024 Olympics Day Celebration with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expected to lead eminent stakeholders in the Sporting fraternity to the event which would hold at the iconic Steven Keshi International Stadium Asaba.

The Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero who disclosed this in statement said the event which is expected to commence at 8 in the morning is aimed at celebrating the Modern Olympic Games in a bid to galvanize athletes as well as sports enthusiast towards better performances and support ahead of the 2024 Paris
Olympic Games.

According to Mr. Ohwojero the 2024 Olympic Day Celebration which is a global event had continued to reverberate through the world as the Olympic spirit encourages love, participation, competition and strong bonds among individuals and countries.

He averred that the Olympic Spirit encourages a collective aspiration for victory among teams and peoples stressing that the event would feature several sporting activities, cultural displays among other activities earmarked to make the day a memorable one.

Mr Ohwojero however thanked Governor Oborevwori for his continued support and investment in the State Sports sector saying the Governor had not relented since assuming office last year but had attended to the plight of Delta State athletes especially with the payment of the backlog of salaries owed players of Warri Wolves Football Club of Warri as well as Delta Queens Football Club of Asaba and members of the Team Delta to the last edition of the National Youth Games which held in Asaba.
