Olowookere hails Flamingos despite 2-0 loss to USA in FIFA’s U-17 WWC

Olowookere said the Nigerian female under-17 team gave their all during the encounter despite being so young

Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olowookere on Saturday praised his players despite getting knocked out of the ongoing 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Dominican Republic.

Nigeria after garnering maximum points at the group stage of the competition  lost 2-0 to the USA in their quarter-final encounter.

Kennedy Fuller and Kimmi Ascanio scored both goals that ultimately ended Flamingos’ participation for the Americans.

Reacting to the disappointing exit after the match, Olowokere expressed satisfaction with the efforts of his players.

The gaffer went on to say the Nigerian girls gave their all during the encounter despite being so young.

“I’m so proud of the girls, they’ve given it their best, come all this way and they are kids who are developing. They’ve given their best but maybe their best was not good enough,” he was quoted by FIFA.com.

“To my fellow Nigerians, we can go beyond this level and we will try and be better next time.”
