Okupe seeks East-West alliance in move believed to be aimed at saving Tinubu in 2027

After quitting the Labour Party over what he termed ideological conflict, a former director general of Peter Obi campaign organisation, Doyin Okupe, has asked politicians in the South East and South West to forge a strong alliance that will keep the North West out of power.
The South West is the base of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. There are speculations that his major opposition in 2027 will come from the North, especially with recent moves by former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai who has been meeting Northern politicians from different political divides in moves pundits is ahead the 2027 poll.
In a post on Monday, Okupe urged politicians in the South East and South West to close rank on keeping the North West out of power.
He said: “An east-west political alliance (understanding) is an imperative for a North-South balance of power. Promoting an east-west political divide endangers national stability.This political chism guarantees continued political domination of the polity by the North.(NW)Truth is a constant.”
