Okorocha to pensioners: Are you not dying?

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has lambasted pensioners in the state; asking them if they were not dying.

Okorocha, who spoke in Owerri, was irked by the massive turnout of pensioners, who protested in Owerri last week Thursday, over non-payment of backlog of pension.

The infuriated governor said that the protesters were being sponsored by his political enermies. He also disclosed that he would only start payment from those on level six down when money was made available.

Meanwhile, Governor Rochas Okorocha has told youths of his home-town, Ogboko, and indeed in the country to secure their future by pursuing education instead of money. He said that the best gift someone could give to any child was education.

Okorocha gave the advice while addressing hundreds of Ogboko youths, who had paid him solidarity visit in his compound at Ogboko on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.

He explained that he made education free in the state upto the university level so that no child could have any excuse for not going to school.

He said that he located the Eastern Palm University at Ogboko, and the Police College in the area to encourage them to be interested in education. He also disclosed that he was attracting Federal Government to the area, and that the efforts were aimed at making education popular and attractive in the area.

According to the governor, his administration has invested heavily in education and infrastructure because the two sectors were key to the development of any state or nation, stressing that his dream was to make Imo the state to beat in every sector.

The governor however urged the youths to love one another, shun crime and embrace education.

Governor Okorocha thanked the youths for their support since 2011 till date, revealing that he felt elated when he remembers the support and loyalty he enjoys from his people, both the young and the old.

Responding on behalf of the youths, their leader, Mr. Harrison Egenukwu, thanked God for using Okorocha to uplift Ogboko, adding that they would continue to be proud of him because he was doing very well as the governor of the state.
