The recent enforcement on the ban on commercial motorcycles and tricycles which took effect on Saturday will affect an estimated 13,000 jobs across the state.
An independent finding reveals that from the organised motorbikes operating companies like Max Okada, O’Pay, Gokada with their motorbikes of 200cc and above and other independent ones with lesser capacities, 9,000 persons will be taken off the roads.
Also affected are an estimated 4,000 tricycles popularly called Keke Napep.
While regular commuters anticipate making long treks to work and business places today there is an expected glut in areas where the tricycles are allowed to operate as more operators vacating restricted areas will join their colleagues on approved routes.
Meanwhile the Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has listed new routes and fares where it will deploy buses to operate.
Affected areas like Apapa with lesser motorable roads due to disrepair and ongoing construction works were not listed in the new routes of service by LBSL
According to LBSL Oshodi-Ajah route is N500; Obalende-Ajah, N250; CMS-Ajah, N250; Inner Marina- Ajah, N250; Ikeja- Ogba, N100; Ikeja- Ijora, N100 and Berger- Ogba, N100
