Chris Ogiemwonyi, former Minister of State for Works in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has asked the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to probe ministries, departments, and agencies (MDA).

He cited the misappropriation of the $2.1 billion meant to purchase arms for the military prosecuting the war against insurgency in the North East.

Ogiemwonyi, who is seeking to contest the 2016 governorship election in Edo State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended President Muhammadu Buhari for exposing the arms deal scam allegedly involving former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

He advocated jail sentences for those found guilty in the war against graft, insisting that there must not be sacred cows.

His words: The federal government should look into other MDAs, starting from Petroleum, Works Ministries.

“The EFCC should scrutinise what happened there in the last seven years of Jonathan and may even go beyond and look into other agencies of government. There should be no sacred cows.

“By the time we start being selective in dealing with offenders we will run into problems. Those found guilty should go to jail.

“I commend Mr president for Dasukigate; there would be more gates in Nigeria.

Ogiemwonyi allayed fears that the Edo APC governorship primaries may be skewed in favour of Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s preferred candidate, Godwin Obaseki, saying both the national and state party leaderships have assured a level playing field for all aspirants.
