Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard, is a doubt for the weekend derby against North London rivals, Tottenham.

He was forced off the pitch during Norway’s 2-1 win over Austria in a UEFA Nations League fixture on Monday night.

The 25-year-old limped out of the game after twisting his ankle and appeared to be in serious pain.

The midfielder was then helped off the pitch by two trainers as he winced in pain.

The severity of the issue is not yet confirmed, but it looks very concerning for Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, ahead of the north London derby against Tottenham this weekend.

However, Norway’s national team doctor, Ola Sand, gave an encouraging but still uncertain update to TV2 after the match.

He said: ‘Martin is doing quite well now. He got a small ankle sprain. We will see throughout the evening and tomorrow what happens next and what we will do about it.”

Arteta is already without Declan Rice who is serving a one match ban after picking two yellow cards in the home draw against Brighton at the Emirates Stadium.
