Obi says Osinbajo as candidate would’ve done better for image of APC

Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi believes the All Progressives Congress (APC) would have moved Nigeria forward if it had chosen Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as its presidential candidate.
Obi reiterated the point while exchanging pleasantries with guests at Dele Momodu’s 63rd birthday celebration in London.
He disclosed in a 52-second video which went viral on social media that he had at one time told the APC leadership that if they wanted Nigeria to work as a progressive country, they should have given the party’s presidential ticket to Osinbajo.
“I am desperate to see Nigeria working, I can’t hide it. I even confronted them [that] if you want it, why didn’t you bring Osinbajo so that we can have people who want to work for the country?
“Nigeria needs a healthy person and someone like him working 24 hours. Let’s have the place working for everyone,” he said, per The PUNCH.

Obi in court against Tinubu’s victory
Obi has filed papers at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) to challenge the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the APC as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He alleged the election was marred by a slew of irregularities, including the non-qualification of Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, to contest for the election which he said was conducted in violation of the Electoral Law.
Obi also alleged Tinubu failed to win the majority of lawful votes cast in the election and did not secure one-quarter of the lawful votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as required in the Constitution
The tribunal has adjourned pre-hearing on the case until May 19.
