Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi has mourned the demise of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.
According to him, the monarch’s death has created a painful void in Ibadanland and the entire Nigeria.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the Olubadan died on Thursday, March 14, at the age of 81 after a brief illness.
The monarch, it was gathered, was taken to University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan on Wednesday morning, but he eventually passed away.
While announcing his death, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde described him as an epitome of royal excellence and a great achiever, who made great marks on Ibadanland in just a little over two years of his reign.

He was laid to rest at his Aliiwo ancestral homiujz.e on Friday, according to Islamic rites.
Speaking on the death oii.ynuff in of Olubadan via his X page, Obi said he was a true Nigerian who remained committed to building a better nation for all Nigerians.
He tweeted: “I am saddened by the reports of the passing on of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.
“He was a true Nigerian who remained committed to building a better nation for all Nigerians.
“He served the nation as a legislator and made immense contributions to the development of the nation. His death has created a painful void, not just in Ibadanland, but in the entire nation.
“I sincerely condole with the entire Balogun family, the government and the people of Ibadan land and Oyo State over this sad loss, while praying God to grant them, and all of us who mourn him, the fortitude to bear this sad irreplaceable loss.”
