Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Monday paid a visit to the Editorial Board of ThisDay newspaper.

In a post on Twitter, Obi said he spoke with the board on issues of national interest, adding that he shared with them the fundamentals of his manifesto.

“Earlier today, I interfaced with the Editorial Board of ThisDay newspaper. We had an opportunity to interrogate various topical national interest issues. I shared my governance perspectives and the fundamentals of our manifesto and mission mandate,” he wrote.

Last week, the newspaper’s board of editors was drawn into a war of words with the spokesmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga and Dele Alake.

The board, in a joint statement with its counterparts at Arise TV, accused Onanuga and Alake of trying to bully the media ahead of the 2023 general elections, adding that the duo, out of envy and pettiness, have been continuously attacking ThisDay/Arise TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, Prince Nduka Obaigbena.

Onanuga and Alake, in response, accused Obaigbena of merchandising the media and having a history of holding corporate organisations to ransom.
