Peter Obi has visited Borno, the heartland of Boko Haram where the Islamist jihadists began their murderous adventure in July 2009, and pledged to end the insurgency and other strands of insecurity buffeting the country.
All I need is for Nigerians to vote me President on 25 February, he said in Biu Emirate in the southern part of the state.
The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate was received by southern Borno natives drawn from Chibok, Gwoza, Hawul, Askira Uba, and the entire nine council areas, and he promised them he would end insecurity if elected.
Obi was accompanied by his running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed, LP Chairman Julius Abure, Borno LP governorship candidate Ibrahim Mshelia, LP Deputy National Campaign Manager Isaac Balami, and other campaign stalwarts.
He also pledged to alleviate the suffering and wipe away the tears of southern Borno residents inflicted by Boko Haram.

I feel your plight, Obi tells campaign attendees
“I am one of you and feel your plight. I know that you are all hardworking and want to go back to your farms.
“I am giving you my word that this insecurity issue will be a thing of the past in my administration and I will ensure that my government gives you the best of life,” Obi said, per reporting by The PUNCH.
“Thank you for everything you have done for the country and I will never forget you. A new Nigeria is possible!”
Mshelia, a native of Hawul Council in southern Borno, gave an assurance to the crowd that if he is elected Governor and Obi President, security would be restored in the state and economic activities would improve.
He said as a son of the soil, he would not disappoint Borno people.
Balami – who is also Obi’s Campaign Coordinator and Senior Special Adviser on Presidential Campaign Matters, Fundraising and Grassroots Mobilisation – expressed happiness that Nigerians are working hard to enthrone the Obi-Datti mandate.
