Obasanjo to host memorial service for Jimmy Carter

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will host a memorial service for the former United States President Jimmy Carter in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Sunday.
Carter died aged 100 on December 29, 2024, in Plains, Georgia, USA.
He was the longest-living former US president and the first to reach 100 years of age.

Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, in a statement on Saturday, disclosed that the former Nigerian leader would host the memorial service to honour his friend who was the 39th US President.
In his statement, Akinyemi hinted that the service would be held at the Chapel of Christ, The Glorious King of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, by 9.00am.
The President of the Baptist Convention, Rev Israel Akanji, will present a special sermon on the occasion while Obasanjo is to deliver a special tribute on “Jimmy Carter: The Departure of a Titan”.
