Obasanjo to chair colloquium at Ihedioha’s 60th birthday celebration

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will chair a high-profile colloquium on Monday, March 24 to mark the 60th birthday celebration of former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha.
Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, will deliver the keynote address at the event on “Is Democracy Failing in Africa?” according to a statement issued on Saturday by the media and publicity committee.
Former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Emeka Anyaoku, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and other high-profile personalities will also be in attendance. Their participation underscores the significance of the discourse on democracy, governance and leadership in Africa.

With a wealth of experience in governance and statesmanship, President Obasanjo’s presence at the event highlights the importance of the discussion, especially given the increasing challenges facing democratic institutions in the country and across the continent. “His insights and leadership will provide valuable perspectives on the future of democracy in Africa and the role of governance in sustaining stability and development,” the statement stressed.
The event will be held at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Intercontinental Hotel.
The celebration will begin on Sunday, March 23, 2025 with a Thanksgiving Service at St James’s Anglican Church, Haile Selassie Street, Asokoro, Abuja.
It will be rounded off with dinner at Cilantro Event Hall, Sarius Plamentum, IBB Boulevard, Maitama, Abuja on March 24.
