Obama backs Kamala Harris’ bid to become US president

Obama in the now viral tweet, also told the United States Vice President that she would make a good “President

Former US president, Barack Obama, on Friday threw his weight behind Kamala Harris’ bid for the White House.

His endorsement came via a post on his X page, where he noted that he and his wife, Michelle, will support United States Vice President, Kamala Harris in her bid to replace her boss, President Joe Biden.

Obama in the now viral-post, went on to assure the VP that she would make a good “President”.

Speaking via his verified social media handle, the former president tweeted, “Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support.”

Another video posted on social media shows the Obamas calling Harris to inform her of their endorsement.

“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” the former president said to the VP.

Michelle Obama added, “I can’t have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.”

Prior to this development, Biden had taken to social media to give his deputy  his blessings after announcing his withdrawal from the November presidential race.

While endorsing her, he wrote: “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.”

Apart from the US president and the Obamas, other Democratic Party leaders such as former Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, had endorsed the Vice President.
