NYSC to reopen camp in Yobe after five years

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is to reopen its Orientation Camp in Yobe State for fresh graduates after five years of relocation to neiighbouring state.

NYSC Coordinator in Yobe State, Jauro David, disclosed this during a visit to Emir of Fika and Chairman, Council of Chiefs, Dr. Muhammadu Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrissa, at his Potiskum Palace on Thursday.

David explained that this year’s NYSC members would hold in Yobe State because of the return of peace in the state.

According to him, “Hosting the Corp members in Yobe would tell Nigerians that normalcy has resumed.

“We have written a letter to Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, in that respect, urging him to renovate our Orientation Camp in Fika, which we abandoned for five years due to the fear of Boko Haram insurgents. We were told that it was capital intensive; we plead on you, your royal highness, to talk to your brother the state governor to permit us to use College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS), Potiskum, for our October this year’s Orientation Camp. ”

He thanked the monarch for the fatherly support to NYSC members in Yobe State.

Responding, the royal father assured to liaise with the state governor and other stakeholders to ensure that this year’s Orientation Camp is held in the state.

“We are aware ofthe importance of hosting NYSC members in Yobe State as their services are beneficial to our host community.”
