But Ikaka said, “As we rejoice over the success of this Orientation Programme, it is important that we appreciate the contributions of the state government which made such a huge difference. We are immensely grateful to the Governor for supplementing the transportation cost of Corps members as announced by the Governor during the swearing-in ceremony”.

The Cordinator  however advised the state government to expedite action on the restoration of electricity in the camp, which according to him, is near competition as well as the provision of a utility vehicles for the NYSC to facilitate inspection of Corps members.

Ikaka also urged the Corps members to identify areas of needs in their host communities and tackle them through community developing project, adding, “I urge you to identify areas of need in your host communities and endeavour to solve them through involvement in both individual and group community development projects and also by mobilizing members of your host communities to overcome such challenges.

“I assure you that in doing so you will attract goodwill and honour as the NYSC and the government have put in place mechanisms for rewarding Corps members who distinguish themselves during the service year. I also implore you to continue with post-camp skill acquisition training to adequately prepare yourselves for self-employment after service in the face of scarce job opportunities,” he added.

Some of the Corps members described their experience in the camp as awesome and memorable.

She said, “We had enough fun and I really enjoyed staying with the people who provided service for us in the camp but the only problem I had was the long training hours, which you will have to stand all though becuse we do not have enough seat.”
