NSE moves 711.26m shares worth N11.93bn

Investors at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday, staked N11.93 billion on 711.26 million shares transacted in 4,675 deals.

 

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the volume of shares traded increased by 129.65 per cent compared with 309.72 million shares valued N3.72 billion traded in 4,674 deals on Wednesday.

The banking sub-sector remained the toast of investors with UBA emerging the most active, exchanging 287.63 million shares worth N1.53 billion traded in 218 deals.

Wapic Insurance followed with a total of 96.33 million shares valued N52.97 million achieved in 28 deals, while FBN Holdings accounted for 81.33 million shares worth N758.60 million exchanged in 497 deals.

 

 

Access Bank traded 31.75 million shares valued N198.09 million in 225 deals, while Diamond Bank exchanged 31.54 million shares worth N140.25 million achieved in 78 deals.

 

 

In spite of the high volume of shares traded, the market indicators dropped by 0.13 per cent due to loss posted by some blue chip equities.

 

 

NAN reports that the All-Share Index lost 44.94 points or 0.13 per cent to close at 34,310.37 against 34,355.31 recorded on Wednesday.

 

 

Also, the market capitalisation which opened at N11.674 trillion decreased by N14 billion to close at N11.658 trillion.

 

 

Nestle led the losers’ table, dropping by N10 to close at N850 per share.

 

 

Forte Oil lost N9 to close by N176, while Mobil Oil dipped N2.76 to close at N146.80 per share.

 

 

Nigerian Breweries depreciated by N1.90 to close at N150.10 and Zenith Bank dropped 56k to close at N21.44 per share.

 

 

Conversely, Total topped the gainers’ chart, gaining N15 to close at N174 per share.

 

 

Guinness garnered N7.28 to close at N163, while Presco increased by N3.20 to close at N35.20 per share.

 

 

Seplat inched N3 to close at N338 and Flourmill grew by N1.35 to close at N36.20 per share. (NAN)
