According to her, she grew up in a family which taught her how not to live with shame but how to live through the challenges of life.

She said, “Finding out I couldn’t have children didn’t make me feel ashamed. I didn’t feel shame, but inadequacy, I felt inadequate as a woman because every time it was mentioned I would remember.

“It was tied to how I was brought up. We don’t tie shame to ourselves. We live through life fully.”

Speaking on adoption, Nse Ikpe said she and her husband are not thinking about that option but now, saying they have dogs they are parenting, but she didn’t rule out the possibility.

She said, “You never say never, but right now Clifford and I are dog parents. People should be allowed to live, what else? We are okay. And nothing defines you, not one thing defines you.”

She went on to say her husband has been supportive and urged couples to stick together during good and bad times in their relationship.

Nse added, “My husband stood by me through all of this because that’s the way it’s supposed to be. It’s us, we walk in there as a partnership. We’re faced with the good, bad, and ugly,”
