NNPCL GMD Mele Kyari loses 25-year-old daughter

The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has lost his daughter, Fatima.

Aged 25, Fatima was said to have died on Friday, October 11, in Abuja.

The cause of death was not disclosed but she has been buried according to Islamic rites.

Her funeral prayers, which held at the Annur Mosque in Abuja, was attended by the Vice President Kashim Shettima and other friends and associates of the family.

In a condolence message to Kyari and his family, the vice president prayed for the peaceful repose of Fatima’s soul.

Shettima also prayed to God to grant Mele Kyari and his family the strength to bear the loss of their daughter.

He said this in a statement made available to journalists by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha.

The statement read, “Vice President Kashim Shettima has condoled with the family of the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Malam Mele Kyari, over the loss of his daughter, Fatima Kyari.

“Aged 25, the late Fatima passed away on Friday.

“VP Shettima, who prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Fatima, asked God to grant the family the strength to bear the painful exit of their daughter, who was in her prime.

“The Vice President led other mourners at the funeral prayers, which were held at the Annur Mosque in Abuja.”
