The Nigeria Nationwide League (NNL) has expressed deepest shock over the sudden death of the wife and baby of Kabiru Adekunle, Team Manager of Gray FC of Ede, Osun State, during childbirth penultimate Friday.
Executive Secretary of NNL, Olushola Ogunnowo, said he received the news with great shock which he is yet to recover from.
“I was shocked upon hearing the sad news of the passing on of Adekunle’s wife and baby during childbirth. On behalf of the secretariat of the Nationwide League and the stakeholders, I pray God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” he said
When the news of the death of Adekunle’s wife and baby filtered in late that Friday, staff and members of the league secretariat could not hold back their tears. Consequently, work was suspended for grief.
Meanwhile, Chairman of NNL, Ahmed Kawu, has described the news as unfortunate and prayed God to grant the departed souls mercy.
He described Adekunle as a great friend and called on everyone in the league to support his family in prayers in this trying times.
“I want everyone in the league to support the family of Adekunle in prayers at this point in time because it is indeed a double tragedy and we pray Allah to give the Adekunles strength to overcome this moment in their life,” he added.
