Nnamdi Kanu gets knocked by own fans for unleashing security chaos in Imo

After tweeting his justification for aiding the jailbreak in Imo, a number of sympathizers for the Biafra agitation have rebuked the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, for unleashing a security chaos in the state.

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed unit of IPOB, stormed the state’s prison to free no fewer than 2, 000 inmates today, April 5.

The gunmen also attacked the nearby office of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the state police command, also freeing suspects there.

There were also reports of ESN operatives killing persons believed to be northerners in the South East.

Despite these security nightmares, Nnamdi Kanu tweeted what appears to be a justification for the attacks.

He said: “If Miyetti Allah terror herdsmen & other murderous #Fulani groups, including Boko Haram insurgents can be arrested, freed and rehabilitated by this neo-colonial Fulanised @NGRPresident, then no single soul deserves to be in any prison in Nigeria. If you know you know! #UGM.”

The seeming justification of the attack did not go down well with many who have been supporters of the IPB leader. They argued that the attack only exposed Ndigbo to more harm than serve the Biafran cause.

And unlike Nnamdi Kanu’s previous tweets that get favourable replies, this recent tweet only elicited rebuke from persons whose twitter profiles showed them to be Igbos with sympathy for the Biafra cause.

@somawilliams said: “Mazi dalu, if it’s what I’m thinking then it’s not a nice move. Considering the fact crime will increase in our land by that approach, and the same thing we are talking about herdsmen will be out there for our people. Please let’s think about this. Thank you.”

@emekajude25 tweeted: “Onye isi anyi Nnamdi Kanu, I don’t agree with you on this one…if this is a planned attack then the lives and security of Ndi Igbo is in abysmal danger..This act should be condemned by all and sundry,it is not part of the cause we are fighting for. Dont justify insecurity.”

@Nellye190 argued: Mazi Nnamdi Kanu this one is not a good thing to say. If IPOB is responsible for that prison break it is not good. It is very wrong please. All we want is peace. Igbos are not violent people please. Don’t turn us to one, God bless Nigeria God bless IPOB.”

@Brightexeva tweeted: I stand to condemn any activity of the ESN that led to shed of innocent blood. Killing suya ,fruit sellers & traders of Hausa (origin) at Orlu or Owerri is bad. It doesn’t show the bravery of Indi Igbo. Please stop ESN from such act. Let them locate the evil politicians.”

@nelsonbaba said: “You are causing more harm than good my brother. Can you hear advice? You have done well to create good followers. Can we convert it to positive move? This happening now is causing us more hatred. Please my brother, listen to wisdom. We can come out stronger with your crowd.”

@iamKeziehenry said: “I totally condemn this act. ESN should concentrate on protecting our land from murderous Fulani herdsmen.”
