Organised labour in Ogun State has said that its workers will embark on an action plan strike after a Parliament meeting on Monday, 27, June 2022.
Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Emmanuel Bankole stated this in Abeokuta, at the Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN) annual workshop.
According to him, the organised labour will embark on its action planned strike after a Parliament on Monday.
He said the parliament meeting by the union will determine the scope of the proposed action strike.
He stated that the strike will be taking place because the government has not said anything since the union issued a seven-day ultimatum on the state government over the non-remittance of deductions among others on June 21.

“We cannot bear it anymore. We may end up in strike action. We gave the governor two weeks’ warning strike and nothing happened. And we gave him seven days which expires on Monday and as we speak no word from the governor. Our parliament meeting on Monday will determine our scope of the action strike,” he said.
The NLC chairman disclosed that the action strike is a result of 21 months of unremitted deduction, implementation of Contributory Pension Scheme, unpaid statutory leave allowance of eight years, need to review pension, and accumulated gratuity ranging from inadequate quarterly payment.
“Government should pay workers their gratuity so they can take their money while they are still alive,” he said.
